Shaved gas tank fill - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Has anyone on here besides myself shaved the gas fill one a 60 - 66? I recently did mine, which was very easy since the whole is about the same size as a paint can top. I wanted to do that so that I could prevent any rust on the exterior, I also shaved the antenna hole for the same purpose. also, I got a 98% rust free cab from arizona and patched it in the floors and put new rockers on, but someone had done some repairs with lead can I use fiber bond over lead or does it have to be steel for the filler to adhere?

it wil stick to the lead as long as it is clean & solid.
