Sand blasting's effect on finish??
I haven't done any body restoration yet, but I remember a long time ago, I had some parts on another truck of mine sand blasted. They were hidden parts and I painted them with a can, but when I finished, the part was not glossy. It was more a satin finish than anything else. A friend of mine said it was because of the sand blasting. Is he right about that? Does sand blasting cause a part to be dull in finish as opposed to one that has just been sanded? Maybe I didn't paint it right or used the wrong paint...I don't know.

Sand blasting itself will not cause that problem unless you do not prepair the surface for paint. In other words shoot paint strait on the metal without priming it first. I etch prim, seal prime and then sand prime the surface befor I paint it. I sand the last coat of primer befor you paint with 1000 grit wet dry to level the surface out befor I paint. Sand blasting body panels is not a real good idea. It can cause the panel to warp or can cause pitting. If it is something you must do, make sure you turn the pressures way down.

media blasting
I heard of people using blasting material made of pecan shells, since the wood partical don't conduct heat they don't cause warping. Probaly expensive though.
