Who Sells Air Shocks?
Trying to find some air shocks for my 71 2wd, coil sprung truck and can't find any, they are listed for leaf spring suspension but not for coils. Who sells 'em for a coil rear???
I want to be able to tow with this truck and need to be able to "pump up" the rear suspension when thing's get heavy. |

The stock shock brackets aren't strong enough to handle shocks by themselves. Adding suspension load to them is asking for trouble. I have had to replace lower shock brackets a couple of times on my truck in the last dozen years.

maybe those airbags that go in the middle of the coil springs would be better.

Weak Link...
Hadn't thought about that...thanks for the input.
I think I'll be trying the heavy duty springs I just purchased from rage'nrat638 first and see how it handles the loads from there. Next would be the air bags in the coils. (thanks TX Firefighter) Gotta luv the board...ask and you shall receive. |

Another thing that works pretty good if you can find them is the optional overload. It is an eliptical leaf spring that has a bracket and bolts in at the rear of the frame. There is a plate that sandwich's in between the rear end housing and trailing arm and has a rubber bumper. When the truck drops the spring makes contact with the bumper. I used to have a set and they worked pretty good.

I think Kingparts has a set of those overload springs. He did a couple weeks ago.You might PM him if you decide to go that way.
