BBC into 62 SWB
Couple of questions.
How to get a BBC in a 62 stovebolt hole? Frame mounts motor mounts, etc...?? Are the torsion bars stroing enough to use temporarily? Will I have to move the trans crossmember? I am going from 3 on tree saginaw to muncie M-20 on floor.... Thanks for any help. Joe 62 Stepside swb 468 bbc Muncie M-20 Cicken poop |

I have the same questions you have except my 63 has the newer style front end. I am fixing to put in a 439 big block and am also wondering what type of motor mounts to use.

some reading for you. same info applies to bbc or sbc. Some move the perches forward and inch or two for Hei distributor clearance.

The torsion bars should hold up on a BBC, since the same front suspension is in the GMC's with the big 305 V6s.
The best spot to mount a BBC is to have a 2 inches in the back of the engine for clearance so there's easy access to puling the distributor, and valve covers. Also the radiator will need to be a 4core to keep the BBC cool. For engine mounts, you'll need the engine mounts that originaly came off the engine. I hope this helps. David
