modern 3 pt retractable seatbelt?
I'd like to put modern 3pt retractable seat belts in my '67 GM. Anybody done this. Could the top part be bolted thrue the cab where the little plastic plug goes, high in the corners? would this be strong enough, or would it need to be re-inforced from behind? If I do it, I definatly want it all to work properly if there's ever a need! If you know what I mean?

The nut that is welded in the cab is made for a shoulder belt, so strength should not be a problem. I am in the process of installing three point belts out of an S-10 as others have done. It looks to be a fairly easy installation.

Juliano's sells a kit to put it all together in the original places. The top bolt should be where the plug is.I went to a wrecker and found some that would fit.

I have the set up from Chevy Duty. It works and was easy to install, but I'd have to say it really sucks as far as retracting on its own. The part on the right that slips into the shoulder buckle is very short..hate it. Would not buy again had I known.

I'd like to know more about the S-10 seat belts... What years? Did they fit in the factory 67-72 location on the floor beside the seat? I know I'm pushing it, but do any of em have blue interiors?

If you get some seats out of the newer chev trucks[99-04]the belts are built into them.I have heard that they fit with very little work.lots of them are power seats to boot. You can even get them in leather.

I just bought a set of retractable 2 point belts off ebay from a seller name FATRODDER. He also sells 3 point belts. I have not recieved them yet but will report in with the results after installing.

I put some in a 67 i had I used 85 seat belts. YOu will have to drill a hole in the floor for the retractor and put a plate under it for strength Or make a bracket to go from the original retractor mounting location.
I have an 89 im stripping it looks like it would be better for a 72 because the retractor is more slender so you might look into that aswell. |

Purple gas,
The plugs are just pressed in. Some will pull out easy, others will fight you to the end! Jim |
