Last I heard the vehicles that were already exempt were not going to be affected. Only the vehicles that had their 30 yr exemption coming up.

No you don't. From what I heard the new law stopped the rolling 30 year exemption. It's gonna stay 75 and below exempt. There is a thread around here somewhere....

Here's the bill as chaptered. http://www.leginfo.ca.gov/pub/bill/a...chaptered.html 75 and below still exempt. If you turn in "collector car" insurance for insurance required for registration you hafta have a visual fuel cap and fuel leak inspection. There's more stuff hidden in there too. They have the abililty now to throw out the 4 years or newer exemption if they need to meet epa requirements. Seems the state gets fined by the Feds for having over x tons of pollutution in the air.

The Law hasn't been changed for us yet but yes it has been discussed to repeal the whole 30 yr exemption. The law is only for vehicles 1973 and older not a real 30 yr exemption. It does not roll back every year till 2006, maybe. That means that since this is 2004 a vehicle made in 1974 is not smog exempt not next year and probable not in 2006 either

I know the chaptered law in the link above is dry reading o'skool.... That is the law on the books that WILL be in effect come April 1, 2005. It clearly states vehicles below 76 in model year will be exempt. ...Ya never know what those pukes are going to do though. Still, they will have to wait till next calendar year to change it again.
