What Electric Fan Would You Choose?
Im either going to go with the "OLD AIR PRODUCTS" dual fan setup or the "CLASSICHEARTBEAT" setup. Wich one do you think is best?

I put the dual fan set up from Wes on my 69 and it is a real quality unit and very easy installation. In fact every part that I replaced on my truck which is most of the truck I got from Wes and I have never been disapointed.

Thanks, for the compliment on the grill..... They go real well with my pollished stainless steel duel electric fan assemblies...lol
 If you realy want my opinion on fans, I would seriously would say mine. I have been using them for over 7 years now and have not had an issue. I pull a 5000 pound boat with my Big Block Blazer with it also. I just installed another one into the Garden Truck also. Looks sweeeeeeet!!! No matter what you decide to do, use a shroud!! If you mount them through your radiator like the instructions on most fans, it will eat a hole in your radiator core!! Been there, done that... When I designed our assemblies, I wanted them to look as good as they are functional. Our customers have them in at least 4 show trucks and they have received many compliments. So my vote is Wes's system....  WES www.ClassicHeartbeat.com

If its a show truck go with Wes' if its not try this inexpensive setup from a 91 maxima!!!!!! I only paid 50.00 at the salvage yard. To me it looks as good as the oldair unit.

You can make a simple bracket set up for this type and bolt the unit directly to the core support. You can find these types of fans all over in decent condition for around $50 to $100 bucks.

I run a pair of 14" flex a lites, on a hand built shroud(yes they do fit tight indeed!) the controls are a painless wiring setup (on 185/off 170). the setup is very clean looking, & works well. The fans are said to pull 1650cfm ea, & are cooling a 383 sb running right @ 1 hp per cube. my budget allowed around $150 in parts, & the rest labor......if i had to purchase all the parts new, I would have opted for the dual setup Wes has
 As finished, i had 1 new fan($90), Painless controls ($60), one good used fan from my oldests son's totalled Ranger(free),1 steel shelf(free) & labor.....man if I could pay myself for the time, that old longhorn would have funded my retirement!!!! my vote, go with wes's setup.....crazyL

I bought a dual flexalite kit with a painless wiring kit. I love it. Dual 12's I think. Doesn't cover the entire radiator, but it keeps my 415 stroker cool. Never gets hot, fans aren't too loud. I think the price was around 250 for the fans...

djracer- how did you do your wireing? i just snagged a early to mid 90's altima fans from a junk-yard for $13...
If I had the money though I would be all over wes's fan's... but on a college students budget i gotta go with what i can get...... maybe one day i will be able to afford some nice fans like wes's Rat

I haven't wired mine yet (I have the front clip off)but I wire complete race cars and such so it won't be a problem! I've been a car stereo guy since flipper was a minnow!
The maxima fans are atleast dual speed!

The ultimate junkyard fans are the Lincoln Mark VIII ('97 and up). I need one if someone comes across one. Getting pricey on E-bay even. New are high. 4500-5000 cfm at 33 amps. A lot of the PT guys are running these. Probably not a good choice on the lower amperage alternators though.

I would go with wes' fan alway's try to support boardmember's 1st.... Anybody have a diagram of the correct way to wire an electric fan????? Or link to a site??

Fan wiring diagram
start by getting these supplies
30/40 amp automotive relay 10ga fuse holder and 30 amp fuse temp switch to mount in intake or head 180 degree(this is up to you) I'd put a manual switch inside to be able to activate from inside Relay wiring 85 to ignition power 86 to one side of temp switch other side of temp switch to ground. if you do the manual switch I'd ground one side then the take the side to this terminal also 87 fused power from battery put the fuse within 18 inches of the battery 30 output to the fans then ground the fans of course Feel free to ask questions.

I can vouch for that setup. I'm running it too. i put up a FAQ about a year ago with all the information but it has since been removed. I had wiring diagrams and all kinds of stuff. I've been running the setup for about 3 years now and have had no problems and no overheats. A recommendation would be to use the water tight posilock four wire connectors to hook it up to make it easily removeable. I swaped motors about 5 times since the fan installation and wore out the plug on connectors over and over again from removing fans and such. Also it looks kinda nice when you install with 2-1/2 x 2-1/2 angle aluminum. just grind the edges to curve to the radiator hold-downs. try to find the fans with pegs in the bottom instead of bolt and you can had it held in with onyl two bolts. I can have my fans out in 30 seconds with that setup.

Here is my wiring diagram. Some guys like to put a relay between the manual override switch and the thermustat.
