Heater control knobs and levers
I KNOW I'm not the only one who's had this problem. While attempting to pull the plastic knobs off the heater controls, I ended up breaking two of the metal levers. So now I have this sharp nubs for two of the controls (which is a shame since I fixed everything else -- never knew I had a three-speed fan!)
Anyway, my local Chevy dealer can't even find a parts book, so he can't look up availability of these levers. Can anyone provide me with a part number for the individual levers? Or are there inexpensive aftermarket replacements? As a last resort, I'll hit the local junkyard. Truck is a 1970 and doesn't have a/c. Thanks, Marc |

I just removed mine from my 69, no a/c. If you want I can email you a picture. I will sell it to you for a small price. If not it will go on ebay.

Most aftermarket vendors sell replacement levers and knobs for a fairly cheap price...easier than having to sift through the junkyard.

heater control knobs
Most 67-72 parts suppliers carry the knobs and they are pretty cheap. I've got 3 different catalogs and they all seem to be in the 5.00 range for a new lever.

I've even seen a few vendors offer an "upgraded" version of the levers, made of steel instead of the old "pot" metal.
Brother's was one. Can't quite remember the other one, maybe Chevy Duty. Hope you find 'em.

How hard are those levers to change? I need to fix mine, and I've never really checked out how those controlers even look from the back. In canada, there the first thing gone at a wreckers.

I bought new ones from GMC Pauls. They are fairly easy to replace.

I saw a handy emergency fix one time: .357 Magnum cases, beaten flat on the open end & stuffed into the slots over the broken levers.

ok, so I take a bullet & hit it with a hammer? I don't like the cold, but I'm in no real hurry to get to that warm place I'm bound to end up in.
