Car Hauler.
The vintage carhauler's you see, 1967-72, were those special frames ordered by GM or what would I need to make a car hauler? I currently have a 69 GMC 1 ton dually.
Thanks in advance. Matt ![]() |

They were normal one ton trucks, usually with the 157' wheelbase.

So what would I need to do to my truck to convert it? Doesn't the frame need to be longer?

Measure from the middle of the front wheel to the middle of the rear wheels. It'll either be 133" or 157" and I think all 1 ton cab/chassis trucks were 157".

Just looking at hauling one car. I was thinking of a wedge type ramp but I don't know how expensive they would be. So the wheelbase would just need to be moved farther back? Those ramp wedge haulers look really long. That's why I assumed the frame rails were longer. Could you explain how the ramp wedges are built or if the frame rails need to be lengthened?
Thanks, Matt. |

Well, I'm in Wisconsin. Probably too far for you but I'd be interested. $700.00 and it's yours. I've got other projects going on so I'd sell.
