Was the other driver found at fault?
how nice was your rig?
If it was worth more than $2000, you need to get an apraisal done (may not be too late if you have reciepts and pics) If you just tell his ins company that it was worth $9000, they'll laugh at you as they write out a check for $2000.
Huge bummer man...I am asuming you are OK since you'r piggin out at the table.

when I came back from Vietnam went to dealer in downtown Houston, paid $3600 and some change for a brand new 67 GTO, Hurst his/her trans, Marina Turqoise, was proud as a field lark! Less then 30 days some jerk quartered me from the right rear, sent wrinkle all the way up to the door, back sagging down like a stomped cockroach trying to crawl away!

I know what you mean about a hit man, I was one then (at least as an infantryman in the 101st Airborne, just back in the states for less than a month)...kill was all over my face and glaring from my eyes...didn't care about consequences, just wanted the b@##$%%D to suffer my pain in a slow and agonizing way...fortunately my wife was able to calm me down until the police arrived...I have her to thank that I didn't go up the river on manslaughter charges.

I too feel your pain, but now that I am old; it doesn't matter if I go up the river anymore; so for those insane drivers who bring pain into our lives, if you are on the streets of Houston, drive like you want to continue to live!

I damn-near got in a wreck on my way to work this morning. It was about 6 o'clock (still dark) and some lady pulled out from the turn lane on my left and tried to turn back out into traffic. Of course it was raining this morning and the ol' 71 had all fours locked up. It can happen so fast. Luckily, I managed to stay out of a wreck.

your perfect front clip wouldnt have been any good for the 72. and you would have had to get an early start

Well, I was at fault for not giving the right of way...however, she was going WAY faster than 30 (her claim). I was sued over this and still paying for it on my ins rates.

I know what you are felling bro. That's why my avatar sys "Project '68, Part 2". I had only driven mine 5 times after completing it when a drunk %()($ passed me on the left, then swerved to the right to get in front of me. Only problem was, he was at the front of the bed when he turned into me. Jacked it up all the way to the front bumper.

I am glad you are OK, the truck can be rebuilt.

Now, they need to make the SOB that hit you do this for the rest of his life:

ok, I am somewhat calmed down now. you can call off the hit men. I went to the shop with my trucks future owner to survey the damage. it is hard to tell from the pics but the frame is bent just ahead of the x member. my steering wheel is off 1/4 turn. now I cant see the tach.
from what I see there goes both fenders, rad. support, bumper, grill (was damn near perfect), RF side marker, Rf turn signal, lower chin panel (unsure of name), & hopefully they can straighten the frame.
do I have any say as to whether or not they total it? I have tried for 17 years to buy this specific truck (Po was my next door neighboor when I was a kid). as you can see from the pics my 6 year old is quite dissapointed.
I havent talked to the ins co. yet, can I take it to a body shop for estimates or should I wait for the OK?
I have never had this happen before. this is my first accident after about 17 or so years of driving. why couldnt this happen in the wifes car instead.

I can't believe the frame is tweaked. It just doesn't look that bad in the pictures I guess. That sucks. Glad you're ok though.

That sucks Todd. Hopefully the other person's insurance co. will cover you. If they do total it ask them what it will take to buy it back. You could end up with a pretty good deal in the end. We can find you a new frame pretty easily.

^^^^^ What he said. You can buy it back even if they total it, but you may have to get a salvage, or recontructed title for it. You may come out pretty good that way.

The irony on this is, the night before he got hit...he was trying to help me out on my motor issues. then he gets slammed into the very next day.
See, that's what you get for being nice man!
