carb linkage
My 69 K20 has the hard linkage to the carb. I need the linkage that connects to the carb to be about 3" longer.
The rod is right about 10" long and 1/4" diameter but it is a fine thread and I haven't found anything like it yet. Needs to be about 13" or so long. I see a couple options assuming I can't find a connector and some all-thread to lengthen it: 1. Cut it and weld in a piece of rod in the middle to keep the end thread correct. 2. Tap the piece it goes into to 5/16" and use a piece of 5/16" all thread. Let's here some suggestions or other recommendations. As always cheaper better but don't want to end up looking like a hack job.

i have a longer rod that came off of brother's 70 lwb 350 truck. It is 1/4 etc.. If you are interested shipping will get it to your house. Harold

Solution 1. Use your eyeballs and place a line in space between the carb linkage and your right hand in the cab. Drill a hole along that line. Then take a piece of baling wire connected to the carb linkage, through the firewall and dash so you can pull it with your right hand. Instant Throttle, and it's cheap!
 Solution 2. Replace the linkage with a cable. Solution 3. Weld a piece in the middle of the linkage. Solution 4. Take the truck back to the painter and tell him he didn't finish. Just be ready to streak next fall. :p

A couple guys posted pics a while back.....use all thread , with rod ends & slip a pc of tubing over the threaded rod to "clean it up". It will be a very slick looking & funtional pc (fairly cheap too)

The rods are easy to make using 1/4" rod, threading the one end and drilling a cotter pin hole in the other after bending it.
The problem is that the fitting is not national fine thread but a different thread count so what I have done is rethread the fitting with a 1/4-28 tap. Jim |

Why not weld a new arm to your firewall bracket that sticks out the 3 inches? Paint it and I think it would not be noticed,but that's just me

i cut mine and welded a chunk in. but i am thinking about getting a peice of round stock and threading each end and threading on the ball joint swivel thing-ma-bobbers. (i think thats what they are called
 )

I used a throttle rod for a 1967 BBC Camaro (available from Classic Industries). It fits perfectly.

I rednecked my linkage with a length of coat hanger, slipped a bit of new brake line over it, & tied off the ends. A good "long-term temporary" solution.
