inline fuses??
While I was re-wiring my alternator last night, I noticed there were 2 inline fuses in my harness. They are on each side of the rad support and both have broken fuses in them. The truck that this harness came out of, had no alternate accesoried installed in it at all, it was still running the stock radio. Can anyone tell me what these are for? I have pics of them but they are on my computer at home. any ideas?

I had this problem myself when my battery moved and pinched the wire with the fueses. If i remember correctly that wire is for the voltmeter cause it took my gauge with it when it blew the fuses. I still havn't fixed the gauge but it seems to charge ok. At one time I had it figured out exactly why they did this but I can't remember now and the truck is a little hard to get to. lol. I think the fuses were something like 4.5 amps I had to go to radio shack to get them because they are shorter than most auto fuses. Maybe someone on here has a better explanation than i do.
Hope this helps Nathan

Hey Tim
Those are the wires/fuses that complete the circuit for the alternator gauge to work, and use 4 amp inline fuses. On a truck equipped with the full gauge instrument cluster.

I discovered the fuse on the driver side on my truck to be bad replaced it and my ammeter started working. I ended up getting the proper length fuse but for a long time it had a regular one in there
