Help.... I don't know what motor is in my truck

I have always thought that the old 69 has a 307 in her, but i need parts, and wanted to verify before having some pimply faced kid at the parts store proving that i'm an idiot, so i thought i'd look it up. But come to find out, the number on the motor doesn't turn up in my book.

The number stamped on the right side head is:

V1219TXD

Can you help me??

There is a TXD shown as 1975 conv. cab C20, 3500 here/ John

Unless you are buying internal engine parts.......it doesn't matter at all. Small block Chevys are the same as far as most things go.

So the cam and lifters i need are basic Small block chevy?

Yes, as long as you don't go radical. If a cam is radical in a 350, it will be even more radical in a 307.

Yup. The only difference you would ever notice might be in performance, but it wouldn't make much difference if the cam is near stock. The same cam would act a bit more radical in a smaller motor.
Meaning, if you put a "stock replacement" cam for a 350 in your engine...and it really is a 307, it will be a little more performance oriented. It would likely make more power and at a higher RPM. The closer the cam is to stock..the less affect this will have.

I guess it would depend upon what you are looking for...

the number you need to be looking for is on the left side of the engine behind the cylinder head, usually hard to see and usually covered in lots of grime, the head could be off any motor

The number he posted is the block ID number. It is not on the head, just near the head on the block. It is definitely a '75 - '77 350 from a 3/4 or 1 ton truck.

Hmmm...according to that, my engine originally had a 4 barrel carb. Now I don't feel so bad about ripping out that "original" 2 barrel carb and manifold.
