low 60-66 trucks

ok, so ive been on this forum for a short while(few months) and i love it. But i cruise the 67-72 and 73-87 boards alot, and alot of the low trucks i see, are those, i hardly see any low 60-66's. Im currently making my chopped panel lay frame, if not rocker, here in the next few weeks, and i would like to see more of our trucks low. also, if your laying rocker or door or frame, please post pics of front and rear suspension setups. thanks.

getting there , Id like this to be ride height , its layed out here, IM z'ing the frame and installing a 4 link I think Im not certain on that to use on the rear yet, should have the front done by mid january. lets see some progress pics on that killer panel

what's the lowest before that front fender binds up? I'm rebuilding a '72 front suspension that I hope to add 2.5" spindles and 3" springs. Should I be thinking about clearance?

Piper gpp ahead you'll have plent of clearance with that set up , just watch those lower control arms

Well, i did it. its a 4" z, and im using 1/4 cause they had no 3/16 available until a week later, so i said why not. so ive got the rear sides all welded up, just need to cap it off. As you can see i boxed the inside, give me a little more strength. I will hopefully do the front in the next day or 2, depends on if i go snowboarding tomorrow. So to make everything easier, i did move the engine ahead 3", so i shouldnt have dist. clearance problems, and if you can see in the last pic, looking through the big hole in my firewall(which im almost done shaving) you can see my ECE auto tranny crossmember, simply flipped upside down, works perfectly. Also, you may notice in one pic my new firebird tilt steering column. Enjoy, ill get more pics soon.

Well, i hope you all enjoy the pics, i know i sure do!!! I got the 3" spindles on, got 205/75/15 tires on it, have the engine and tranny in it, recessed the bumper 1/2", flipped my ECE tranny crossmember over and dropped the center 1&1/4" to match the 4" Z and so have room for exhaust, got the TA x-member in, got it all ground and painted, cut a good sized hole in the core support for my steering box, and so its all good. Got my box tubing for the rear so i should get that going. Enjoy!

nah man it looks good!! but you know youll never be happy till at least the rockers are on the ground have you considered the top? heres mine before i went nuts on it.

and heres what i want it to look like....... someday i did this hack job in photo shop i brought the front end some to make the front tire look cleaner, dropped it(notice how short my sons legs are ), sectioned it, and put the glass in (cause the tops already done) it should look like a mini when its done!

yeah, i would like to be lower too, especially seeings that im a panel. they say they have a 3-4" chop, and cut the rockers off, so if i cut my rockers off, i would be about 2" lower than them, but im not gonna section the ole body... thatd be tough

yeah youd have a little more to section than me on that panel you should cut it to the doors (but i noticed you had new rockers lol)...im gonna do it.....those cats at I.F. claim to build the lowest rides....we'll show em

Ill probably leave the top on this one Icve got some twisted ideas breweing , I have a cab I chopped 4 inches, and I have a Looooooooooooooooooooong box frame with a 9 foot step side box on ie , now if I put them together and built a reallllllly looooooooong and layed out truck it would be sick!!!!!

Seems to me it would be wise to wait the extra week and go with the 3/16" for stability, then you shouldn't get that twist in the frame or a crack when you hit a large hole in the road. That little added safety is worth the one week wait.

I don't know what I was thinking when I responded to that, I think I was thinking you said 3/8". Sorry for the misquote, but it sure is looking good. Someday I'll be that low with my 63 C-10.

i saw a magazine article where they notched the front crossmember 1.5 or 2 inches and boxed it in.mines dropped 3.5",but i keep dragging my lower control arms.does anyone know where a can get lower control arms that are the same height as the crossmember?

Piper 71C10 the drop that you are using on the front end is about what I'm going with but what are you running the back? I was thinking 5 or 6. Would that put me even or with a reversed rake?
