I was dreading this since it is not the Sure-Fit system but the mock-up was straight forward and went very well. Modified two of the three brackets provided with the kit and welded them in place along with the third stock bracket. Its off to the hose shop next week to have the A/C bead-lock fittings crimped onto the hoses.

As you probably already know, put some witness lines on the crimp collars and the hose so that all the fittings end up pointing the right way. This will prevent twisting the lines for hookup. Clear as mud?? Later, Mark

That looks good. I was thinking of doing something similar. Are you going to use the stock controls or something different?

Edit: for stock type controls I mean the OEM control plate/unit.

Mark: yeah I learned the hard way many, many years ago about hose alignment. But, thanks for reminding me.

Oh yeah, I love it. I was trying to keep away from using that control panel because that is going to make me want to shave the dash. But that looks good. I guess I got something else on the to do list. I can't tell by the pictures but could I slide it towards the drivers side some if I did the same thing?

Sure; I started to do just that but decided to center it instead. Just weld up the opening to the right side rather than on both sides and you're done.

A little off subject, but what type of insulating material is that? By the way, looks good, nice fit, and thanks for the pics, I was wondering how that gen II system would work... I want to do the same.

It's a heat and apply Dynomat knock-off that was purchased off E-Bay. $100 for 100 sq. ft. It's very time consuming to apply since it must be heated to activate the backing. I would recommend the stuff with the pressure sensitive, peel and stick backing.

Is the Gen II the one that uses servos instead of vacum pods? Which model are you using? I'm thinking of putting one in the wife's '63 and also in my Coronet.

Yes, it uses servos instead of vacuum pods which also gets rid of the cables with the stock GM system.

I'm using 61005 Series Gen-II Super Cooler with heat, cool & defrost model. It comes with four A/C outlets from the evaporator so I'm probably going to tie two of them together for the center duct or just block one off.

Thanks.
It was a non-AC cab that I converted to an AC cab by cutting the holes. The vents were included in the price.
