gauge cluster compatability question
i currently have the gauge cluster with just the speedo and fuel gauge in my truck. i have a gauge cluster im restoring with everything except tach and vacuam. will i have to replace the wiring harness to install this gauge cluster or can i run individual wires to the oil, water and temp.? i read on the parts board someone had problems burning up their wiring hareness when they did not switch harenesses?

I am not sure why the harness burned up unless it was mis-wired. You can wire individual wires for the gauges but going with a gauge harness sure simplifies things. Also, down the road when problems arise, it is much easier to follow the factory wiring. I would recommend replacing the harness.

Aparently if you just plug in your new cluster, you'll get a smoke show. Don't want that!! There is a detailed schematic of how to convert your wiring so the dash will work But I don't know where.. Have patience grasshopper.. I'm sure someone will post the link on here.
