Glovebox decal gone, but found buildsheet
Isnt this color combo somewhat rare?, I was going to paint this truck silver, but now I'm having second thought's, might just have to take back to original, also can someone show me what the original body paint stripe-(code D89)-is suppose to look like, and would it have been white?

I can hardly read it...but is it just plain black? (one of my top choices for almost any vehicle)
The stripes you ask about are nothing more than painted on pin stripes. |

Looks like a solid black GMC Sierra Grande fleetside longbox by the codes. In one of the line boxes it will have the paint stripe color in white but black was the other color available. It should be in the line code box D89 and will be most likely like "W" or "WH"

Here's a thread showing the D89 paint stripe. Interesting...two olive green w/white top '69s, one GMC, one Chevy.
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...e+paint+stripe Glad you brought this up, I had forgotten to print off the pics for when we repaint. SSOW

Actually its a GMC shortbed with the most perfect cab Ive ever seen, not a bit of rust anywhere, front clip is straight w/passenger side fender having rust in the front cup only. What surprises me tho, is the bed is wasted, and I mean toasted, its rusted everywhere, and its really a shame cause the bed is straighter than an arrow, but it sat near yosemite national park on a farm for 20yrs with the bed full of snow during the winter months, frame has surface rust only, this is my $405 ebay special
It being a black on black with black lower molding, Ive decided to take it back to original. Has a 12 bolt posi, Im going to throw a 73up front suspension but retain the original upper control arms for a tighter handling truck, already got plates and cups from suicide doors for the bags, going to add some disc brakes for the rear from a 70's trans am, and convert it to trailing arms w/bags-( BIG THANKS to MRSHELLEY, for the detailed posting's on the bag set-up). Next, crate the original 350 motor, and stuff a 600hp 455 buick engine that I built years ago, with a 700r, it outta be fun The motor choice might not be most guy's cup of tea, but I love them BB Buicks, plus the motor weigh's the same as a small block chevy with an aluminum intake Last edited by 72dually; 01-02-2005 at 08:26 PM. |

Whats interesting is the fact that after it was painted blue, they re-applied the pin stripes, and not the 3M sticker ones either.
405 bucks....good deal. Does it run...or close to it anyways? |

Nope, missing carb, and its been sitting a long, long time, motor still turns. When I questioned seller before bidding about the motor size, he said he thought it was a 4bl 327, I guess I was'nt specific enough........Uh is the motor complete..lol
Turns out to be the original 350 according to the build sheet code TBB, of course he had it listed as a 68 too, but Im not complaining, its still a good deal in my book |

Havent recieved it yet, but DMV did send me a notice with it in my name, stating that my non-op fee's would be due feb 26th or pay the $72 to register, or something to that effect. He transferred it into my name before I could pick it up. He did claim he made no money on the deal, cause he had to pay a bunch of back fee's

I forgot you are in Cali...I really wonder how some of these laws get passed over there...and who keeps electing some of the idiots with these ideas.
The oil companies don't crush cars here like they do in L.A. and if they did, they wouldn't get any smog credits or anything else. That can't be one of 'ol Earl's paint jobs...there isn't enough on the glass! |

Normally shoved inbetween the seat frame and cusion, but can be found behinde the fuel tank, under the carpet/mat stuck up under the dash.... pretty much anywhere.

I actually was'nt looking for it, but I yanked the seat out, so I could remove the tank, and there it was on the top half of the seat. I must tell you tho, it would have been worth it to me to have just cut the metal strapping around the buildsheet and buy a new seat at the boneyard, if I knew it was going to literally crumble when I tried to remove it
My buildsheet was completely intact, but trying to remove it while pushing the foam away it disinigrated, and took me 2 hours to put the pieces that were salvagable back together |

I didn't make the code out correct. I stand corrected as it is a factory short fleetside with that CE15734 code. I thought it looked like a 934 which is the longbox. I think the trim code is Z84 which is actually the Custom trim not the Sirrra Grande which makes sense with the lower trim and a painted upper stripe. I don't think the stripe option was available on the Sirra models.

I don't see Z84 listed there anywhere, plus there are options listed that would be in the Z84 package.
Tinted glass * lower moulding * carpet paint stripe HD (maybe?) shock absorber Front springs Rear leafs Posi-trac 350 motor evaporative emisions push button radio * chrome front bumper amp-oil guages black paint black int (* means that would have been included in the z-84 option package) Also, the wing vent should be chrome if it was a custom or higher, and if a z-84 it should have the bright trim on the markers. |

If I could send the actual scan of the build sheet to someone, which I cant resize, its easier to read. I had to photograph the scan

There is a code what appears to be Z184B down lower left above the dealer info. But I agree it isn't listed in the column and it is odd how this was ordered with carpet too.
Nice rare truck combo. It is a 69 or 70 though and the vent wing looks to be chrome on that door but the door panels sure look like the standard model.

That code your describing actually reads Z18AB
Whats the Z84 package? I figured this was a bottom of the line truck for a shortbed, cause the door panels are just metal with a chrome strip on top, nothing fancy, the window frames are black Last edited by 72dually; 01-03-2005 at 06:12 PM. |

Here is the build sheet scaled down to 600x542 in size (largest I could get for posting here; complements of 'gimp' (www.gimp.org))
Thanks! That was a great big, nice quality scan/picture! -Roger
