2 rockin trailing arm Suspension links and a question
Well on my quest for finding stronger trailing arms for my truck I happened upon a few links that completely rock.
The first is stock car products: http://www.stockcarproducts.com This site has 2 different arms available, both of which are under $200 each. The first one is a light weight design (18 lbs) and would be best suited for a coil over setup since it doesn't have a bolt hole for the stock springs. http://www.stockcarproducts.com/trkarm.htm The second and really the gem of this site is OEM trailing arms for $150 each!!!! http://www.stockcarproducts.com/closeout.htm SCP also stocks shims to adjust the pinion angle and also has mono ball kits for that hard launch crowd. The second site which was pointed out to me by SCP is: http://www.hotrodstohell.net/index.htm hot rods to hell is seemingly the only company converting cars to trailing arm suspension and to top that off they have come up with a few extremely interesting mods for our trucks as well. There kits are overtly expensive but fortunately there pictures are good enough to copy most of the bracketry and they sell everything as parts to top it all off. Most interesting is there screw jack setup that allows you to raise/lower your truck as well as the ability to adjust one side at a time so you have a straight launch. http://www.hotrodstohell.net/truckar...uckarm_c10.htm Enjoy and please add comments as I’m still trying to figure out if I want to stick to coil springs or go coil over. Thanks, OnDrew Last edited by roj2323; 01-03-2005 at 10:35 PM. |

Yes, SCP has a lot of good trailing arm stuff. Someone here turned me onto them a while back. Got the axle saddles and u-bolts for my 8.8 install from them. As far as the decision to go with either coil overs or the HTH kit I think it would come down to the hp/tq planned on being made, goals of the truck and budget. There are some very quick trucks running the stock trailing arm suspension keep in mind. I went with the HTH kit as I want my truck to be able to handle beter than a new one and will be a daily driver. I think the advantage the HTH kit has is the adjustable screw jacks like you pointed out and the ability to keep the panhard bar parallel with the ground as you change ride height as it is adjustable this way also. The panhard is most effective when parallel to the ground. It also moves the shock mounting locations (top and bottom). There are a couple pictures in the link in my sig. I don't have the panhard bar installed as I'm waiting to get the truck built to set the pinion angle on the rear end before welding the axle saddles.

well i really like the screw jacks. they give it a great look and provide the ajustablity i want. what's the ride height with the screw jacks fully colapsed verses the stock spring set up?
thanks, ondrew |

That is a good question. I'm not sure. I know of another who is in work installing a HTH kit and we got together on the phone but neither of us know what to expect. I've got the Fatman front end w/coil overs so I can adjust to keep the rake minimal. The Fatman set up gives you 5" so I'm sort of worried but I guess I could always use blocks if I need to. The HTH kit was meant for performance so I don't think they really cared about what sort of drop you can get with it. I may need the height anyway as I plan on mini tubbing it and filling it with as much tire as I can stuff in there. Right now I'm pretty sure I can go with a 15" wide wheel. I need to get the motor and tranny locked in place, then the cab can go back on and then the roll cage and then maybe I can get the bed on it to get enough weight to see what the drop will be.
