newbie model question
What's the proper name of the model with the side molding and 2 tone paint? What years was this an option? And last, did the bottom molding piece only come in the wood style?
Thanks. |

I don't know about all the years but in 71 lower molding was standard on the Cheyenne and both upper and lower were standard on the Cheyenne Super. These were required for the "deluxe two-tone" paint scheme. Therefore, most trucks with the two tone paint are either a Cheyenne or Cheyenne Super however, moldings and two tone paint were an option for any fleetside. My truck is a Custom/10 and has the molding and paint. The lower molding was not necessarily woodgrain. Some of them are black. I think that was on the earlier CST models. I hope that helps.....

All CST, cheyenne, and supers had wood grain lower molding...except the step side trucks.
The super came with the upper molding. Again, except step side. Any truck regardless of option package could be had with one moulding, the other molding, both moldings, or two tone....yet again, except step sides. The early style two ton had a white roof, color body, and white lower section. The later ones had white roof, coller upper body, white center section, and colored lower section. 69 & 70 could be had in either style of two tone. White was not the only secondary color...just the most common. I have personally seen an all original (and glove box specified) red truck with yellow as the secondary color...it was butt ugly IMO. |

I think lower molding was included as part of the two tone paint option. So, if you ordered upper molding for a Custom/10 and ordered two tone paint, the lower molding is not listed as a option on the glovebox sheet (at least not on my truck). Its part of the paint option which is listed. Does anyone know for sure?

No.... Mines a Custom/10. Glovebox sticker lists the belt molding (1B85AD)and "blue/white/blue". No mention of lower molding.

CST = Custom Sport Truck
Longhorn - You got me thinking so I dug up some option sheets and heres a pic with the answer to the lower molding question. It is part of the paint option and the lower molding includes a chrome gas cap!! |
