`91 3/4t 4L80E control questions
1)Is anyone familiar with how the 4L80E is controlled on a`91 diesel Suburban (92/93?)since the motor is not ECM-controlled?I`m wondering`cause I`d like to do a swap to a`72 and this would be the best candidate.I suppose if I find a donor,I would just take the harness and whatever is attached to it.2)Or,is there a way to convert a 4L80E to manual control. Then I could use other 4L80Es.3)Is there a company that makes an install kit for using these trannies in early-models or street rods?

Jet, TCI, Compushif, and PCS all make stand alone controllers. I'm sick in the head and play with the diesels.........the 91-93 trucks had a separate controller to run the trans, however I'm sure you don't want your wide open shift points to be 3400 rpm. I have never had one of the boxes in my hand but they do have a chip, which I assume would be reprogramable by someone waaaaaaaay smarter than myself.
