Okay guys I won these tires and rims on ebay this morning and am really excited about putting them on my truck. I'm going to have a 4/6 drop. They are 235/50/17-all 4 of them. I think that's good for the front, but what size would you guys recommend for the rear? They are alzo 9 inches wide. Just not sure what size to go with.

I've run 275/50/17 on the rear of some of my trucks. I love em. They are 28 inches tall which is close to stock tire height.

They look great under a 6 inch rear drop too.

Man, I'm out on anything shorter than a 50 series. The reason I don't run 17's on my trucks anymore is because I bent a few here and there because of short tires.

Here's a 97 I used to have. It has the perfect set of tires in my opinion.

Front is 255/50/17
Rear is 275/50/17

They give a big and little appearance and both sizes are tall enough that I never bent a wheel or even dinged one slightly.

You will bend wheels if you go too short on tires.

You might want to give some thought to how much vertical space (reveal) you want to leave (if any) between the tire and the fender lip. A 255/40/17 is only 26" tall and might look smallish. For reference, take a look at ECE's website at both their project '68 and also "this old truck" vehicles. I too have a new 4/6 drop and am trying to decide between F - 255/50/17 with R - 275/50/17 or F - 255/60/17 with R - 275/60/17. The later set are quite tall and fully fill the wheelwell.
