Disk Brake Help

Well sicne I figured I can work on drum brakes I fiugured I may try disk brakes to My 2001 1/2 ton gmc sierra needs front pads. How do I swap them out?

If you can do drums you can definitely do disks. Just remove (some just back part of the way out) the bolts holding the calipher on, remove the wore out pads, remove the cap from the brake resevoir, then use a c-clamp to push the piston back in (make sure your resevoir doesn't run over - you may need to take some fluid out) Then just do the reverse for putting it back together.

I did mine on my 96 Z71, and they come with new o-ring type seals. Make sure you remove the old ones and grease up the new ones. Also, try to use a wrench or something flat with the c clamp in order to push the piston back into the caliper. Remove the brake fluid reservoir cap before you push pistons back into the caliper. And don't forget to put it back on when you are done. When you start up the truck after you are finished, make sure to pump the brake pedal about 2 or 3 times and make sure you have a firm pedal before shifting out of "Park". Also get the rotors turned. Ceramic pads will sometimes warp the rotors, if used heavily.
