???Headers???

For you guys running small blocks on I6 motor mounts
will headers designed for these trucks 67-72 fit on the motor with I6 mounts without clearance problems???

and if so does anyone have a good used set they would be willing to sell???

I have hedman headers on mine. '67 gmc swb with 2wd and manual trans. The only issue I had was with the clutch linkage. A little finesse and it's worked trouble free for 17yrs. Same headers for that long too.

What does running a V8 on I6 mounts do to the engine asa far as placment goes?

moves it back toward the firewall about an 1.5" or so?? (not sure on how much)

mine is 400 sb in inline 6 position with headers.....works fine...if you run auto you need to modify the one little bar....i have a modded one i can get a pic of if needed....my truck used to be manual so i still have some of the manual stuff.....there are pics to show what it does to position as well....

Alright, I'm not very familiar with all the positions. Let me get this straight, the I6 position is the farther back of the two? That seems backwards to me since the I6 is the longer of the two motors and that would seem to make the mounts farther forward?

According to your pics 67ChevyC10Stepside, I would consider that the small block V8 position. (Just how it seems to me, not saying you're wrong). I've never really looked at a I6 truck, but I do know my factory V8 mounts are in the same position as yours are in the pics. Mines 4x4 too. Does that make a difference? The forward holes are big block position too, correct?

Back to the original ?, I had Cyclone? headers on mine, (when it was small block powered), and didn't have any problems with the clutch linkage.

4x4s are in inline 6 position i think........i6 is farther back to because of the extra two cylinders stickin out the front.....mine is I6 position....that's why there is so much room between my fan and rad.....

Hmm, I guess that makes sense...somewhat.LOL
If that's the case I've only seen one truck with a V8 in the V8 position! I think I'll just call them "forward" and "rear"!

My motor(350) is set in the I6 position also . I was running Flowtech headers and really didnt have any problems other than exhaust leaks . Things are a bit tight down there , but nothing anybody cant handle. I am going to sell them , if you might be interested PM me . I can get some pic's if you would like ...Thanks

I've run Hooker Comps on small block in 6 cylinder position before without interference issues at all.

It was a standard transmission truck too, so I still had the z-bar and clutch linkage. It all worked fine.

Hooker Comps are expensive though....I don't really want to spend alot of money as i'm going to be foreced to sell the truck anyway

The Comps are the cheap ones. I think they run about 150 nowdays.
