question about dana 60 ff
Hi, I looked up my dana 60 rear axel on my 71 k20 pickup and it says full float. I've seen the terms full float and semi float in here but I was just wondering what float meant and how is semi verses full float differant. Thanks

A full floater rear the weight of the truck rides on a spindle and 2 bearings per side like the front. The axel holds no weight. On a semi floater rear the weight of the truck rides on the axels and single bearings per side...

break an axle on a semi floater and the wheel could come off. On a full floater the tire is mounted on a hub that rides ona a spindle like chuck said. full floaters have the giant hub that sticks out of the center of the rim.
