Spindels rub on 15" wheels or A-arms?????

Ok I have to start by saying thanks to all who have helped my with the updating of my 72 c-10 LB, it was grandpa's and his spirit would haunt my if I F*&^'d it up
I was just about to order the 4/6 drop kit from Early Classics when I was told by the guys at RICKS (gotta say they are great & have help me tons also) said that since I was gonna run 255/60's on the 15x8 truck rallys that the drop spindles would rub on the wheels or on the A-arms wheel I turned & that I would have to cut the A-arm (bad idea????) or run less ofset wheels or 17" wheels.
Anyone else run into this???? Thoughts or experiences????

i never got rubbing problem with my blazer, hmmmmm. and i got my wheels from wheel vintques

i knew a guy that slammed a dodge dakota to the ground and he had to grind a little off his lower a-arm to keep it off his wheel, but i've never ever heard of a rub problem on one of our trucks, i don't know ricks, but they may have been trying to get you to buy from them instead of early classic

I have the 2and1/2 drop spindels from ECE and run 15x10s with 275 60 I5 have not driven the truck but dont see any problems.

...that's what it sounds like to me. I don't think you'll have any problems. Here's what they may be talking about: a friend of mine had a 1980 C-10 (same A-arms) and used Belltech 3" drop spindles w/ 15" tall rims. The clearance was very minimal (1/4"-1/2") but it was definately do-able. If you stay with 2-1/2" or 2" you'll be fine. BTW, I bought mine from Summit and am very happy with them-they say they're 2".

I just got my 2 1/2 " Belltech spindles and they show where to grind the A arm if need be, it must be a common prob but an easy fix if you don't mind a little grinding.

I've only heard of 3" drop spindles rubbing. You should be fine with 2.5"

I used to have 15x7 front wheels and they barely rubbed my lower arms w/ 3" drop spindles. Little grinding, easy fix.

This new reply page looks pretty high-tech to this computer dummy.

Tell Rick to have a look under the front of my truck, then. I've got ECE 2.5" drop spindles (I take it you're going to do a 2.5" spindle drop and a spring drop as well?) and my clearance problems were with tire-to-fender, not wheel-to-spindle, and I've got 15-inch 6-lug rallys...I don't know if they're x7's or x8's... They could use a tad more backspacing, but 245/60-15's fit perfectly up front. I don't think the extra 1.5" of drop is going to make a major difference in spindle clearancing.

A shame Rick doesn't do so much of the "day-to-day" things on these trucks anymore. He built and installed the TH400 in my truck which works flawlessly to this day, but now I need a 700R4 and he doesn't do installations anymore...just restos and parts...

Everyone with the clearance problem I am assume are running 15's correct. Any problems with say 17-18's rubbing? Anybody..
