Cool stepside pickup stopped at my place
Hey everybody. Yesterday a guy stopped at my place out of the blue. Checkin out my trucks.
Hard to find a stepside with a cool paint scheme. It has a 454 w/T400 trans. I have a stepside project myself so i really found it interesting. I told him about the board. Didnt seem really interested. Seemed to be a know it all. Just thought i would share pics.

The "wing" on the roof has to GO!! The checker plate too. The rest of the truck looks good.

I like it. Your right, not to many custom painted steps out there. I sure can't bash some one elses project, when mine is a long ways from getting that far... definately not what I would choose, but I'm not a custom guy either.

Reminds me of some of the custom paint jobs from the 1980's. Without a double take on the grill and door shape, it was hard to even tell it was a 67-72.

Too bad he didn't want to join the board. I've run into a lot of owners in my travels and told em about this place but they couldn't be bothered with it either.

Sorry, but I'm going to be blunt. The paint job sucks, the step plate on the sides of the bed sucks, and that wing on the cab is one of the most ridiculous things I have seen in some time! All 3 are a disgrace to what could be a nice little stepside IMHO.
Told y'all I was gonna be blunt!

There are a lot of custom touches.
Looks like he put a lot of time into it. If he does decide to check out the board he won't be here long, not exactly a warm welcome.

Hmm...get rid of the goofy wing, and the diamond plate, and the chrome "thing" under the tailgate, and I'd drive it. Something very A-Team about the paint.

He didnt put any time into it. He bought it that way. Only thing i didnt like was the wing on the roof.
The paint job was done very well. The pics didnt do the paint job justice. I like the diamond plate. Sounded kickass too. VERY clean underneath.

If he knows it all, then he apparently didn't know too much when he bought that thing. I mean it's one thing to do that to a poor truck, but it's another to buy it after it's already done. I bet the PO is laughing his a$$ off.
"Pitty the fool who drives that thing" LOVE THE A-TEAM!

I suspect that the reason he didn't show interest in this site is that he's computer illiterate--some people are like that--they will never admit to anything that may seem like a fault.

Some of you guys sure are harsh on a guys truck. Yea he did act like he knew it all. But cripes, hope he doesnt try to join the board now. He will think we all are jerks.
I bet most of you dont have one that nice. And i am sure the previous owner wouldnt have sold it if he was still among the living.

I like the diamond plate. It just needs it on the step also and maybe the bed to. I don't like that type of wing but he had a hitch on the truck so maybe a bigger wind deflector for a trailer. I buy it if the price was right. Hey to each his own. Change the disco stripes for some flames and now were talkin *****in.

So, I guess you really put it on here so everyone would agree with you?
Never happen-- these guys will always express their opinions--and why shouldn't they? You expressed yours, right? If I posted pics of mine on here, I would certainly expect some to express their distaste and hopefully, some would like it--isn't that what happened here? But then---my truck is perfect

I like the diamond plate and the tail lights. Hate the stripes. Wing looks like crap but if it's there because he pulls a trailer then I'd be OK with it. With gas the way it is anything to pick up a little milage is worth it. At any rate, beauty is in the eye of the owner. If he likes it then who cares what everyone else thinks.

I have to agree with fine69. Although the truck isn't done to my taste, it is still done and it's on the road, period. Some of us here, myself included have projects that are nowhere close to being done. I would drive that truck in a heartbeat, 454/T400 in a shortbed, that's a badarse ride. The bed with the diamond plate, makes it more conducive to being a driver. Better than beating up a restored wood floor! No biggie to unbolt the wing and reshoot the truck either if you don't like it. Look at the big picture...

I'm Not super hot on the diamond plate. The wing would be better if it was soild so it had the affect of wind difflecting(sp) if he pulled a 5th wheel with it. or used a camper on it. not sure that might have been what he was thinking when he did it. I like the paint scheme though. good looking truck over all though. Wing looks really good IMO from the side (first pic).
