Tow Hooks Wanted

Anyone have a set of factory GM tow hooks for sale to fit an early 80's GMC/Chevy 4x4? My nephew has a '83 GMC 4x4 with no tow hooks, wants to remedy that situation. I know they are differant from the 67-68 style and the 69-72 style but have no idea what they look like. Would like to get them for his birthday coming up, he was a lot of help rebuilding my '71 4x4 and would like to surprise him. Anyone ?

Factory GM Tow hooks

I'm not sure if this is what he needs. Bolt center to bolt center is 3-5/8" ; Overall length is 11" ; hook is about 3-1/2" wide (measuring center of metal). Hook measures 6" from bottom bolt to bottom of curve. It is 1" thick. The hook is at a 45* angle from the shaft. It is not pitted, just dirty in the pics.
They weigh about 3# each. $45 shipped

May be interested in the hooks but not sure as to the year they fit. Nephew's truck is an '83, his Dad's truck is a '80 and has original tow hooks. Totally differant from those in your picture. What year truck are your hooks from?

I thought these were for 81-87, but don't quote me on that. I've seen them on trucks like my 87 but they had a notch on the air dam and I didn't want to cut mine. Maybe someone here will verify what year they are for.

I will get the hooks from my brother-in-law that we pulled from his '80 GMC. They are some beefy hooks about an inch 1/4 or so in diameter with just a curved, blunt tipped end. Straight, square mounting shank with two bolt holes. Will post a pic of them tomorrow, think they have a number cast into them. Glove box sticker has "V76 Front Tow Hooks" so they are OEM for '80. Have not passed on these hooks yet, just trying to find out if there was a change made from '80 hooks and '83 hooks.

Ironhorse, they did switch the style of tow hooks in 81 when they switched from 73-80, 81-87. The pics of the ones for $45 bucks are the correct ones for his 1983, where as the rounded ones I think you are talking about are for 1973-1980. I had a set mounted on my cheyenne super before I found my correct tow hooks. These ones on my truck should be the earlier style ones 73-80. I have a pair of the correct ones back home that came off an 84 or 85, but I am up in manhattan and not back in osage city to take pics. Don't know if dad would want me selling them just yet, with building a truck at the moment.
Here are the 73-80.....

trevor, thanks for the pics you posted. I stopped by and got the tow hooks from my brother-in-law's truck. Not a problem as right now his truck is frame and running gear with the old rusty, nasty cab that we will be swapping out for a much nicer A/C cab. Here are the hooks that came with his '80, OEM and are listed as "V76 Front Tow Hooks". Same coding as the hooks for my '71, just a much differant style. Numbers are hard to read in the pic, cast into side are # 328072, hooks are identical, appear to have no "left" or "right" side. Your truck looks great, see you are into "A Body" Chevelles also. Will be starting restore on my '71 SS this spring.

Ironhorse, do you want these hooks or are you going to try to use the '80 style?

gh male, I will take the hooks you have pictured at the $45 shipped. Send me a PM with your mailing address and we can work out the details.

Trevor, thanks for the pics you posted. Now I know which hooks are original to which year. Always nice to know what your looking for when going to the swap meets or salvage yards.
