Power Specialties makes power window kits for just about everything but you can probably adapt a power window assembly from a later model junk yard truck alot cheaper. A friend of mine used the power assembly from a late model Caddy in his 46 Chevy pickup.

I put that ElectricLife setup in a 67 pickup a while back. Easy install and worked great. Took longer to put the conduits in the jambs and run the wires than it did to mount the regulators.

72402, What did you do for your electrical thru the jams? I am just starting to look at what I can do, but wondered if you had picture of what you did?

John, I don't have any pictures, but I used a set of conduits made by Specialty Power Window Co. They are just stainless steel springs with a rubber grommet that holds one end stationary, the other end slides in a nylon bushing. Available from several street rod parts suppliers. I buy mine from Parr Automotive in OK City; they're close-overnight shipping. Not much room for error in the jambs of these trucks. They have to go through close to the weatherstrip. There's a diagonal brace in the front of the door. You'll have to cut a hole through it, then drill through the door. I actually cut another hole in the door , just below the window regulator, for better access. There are several other styles of conduits, plastic, braided stainless, etc., but I've used these in several applications and they work really well.

I have just put A1 Electric power windows & power locks with keyless entry in my 69 C-30. Real nice fit with easy to install. Used a rubber grommet from GM #15326220 they were $7.63 ea. Will attach two pictures of the grommet.

TxGary, that is sweet...

Has anyone used the A-1 kit with the switches that Auto-lok & others sell that allow you to keep your stock window handle and use it as the switch?

Can I buy just the standard kit from a1electric and then buy wire and switches on my own from an auto parts store?

I just ordered the A1 kit and Auto-loc crank switches yesterday. Saved a little on the switches... still not cheap. Got them from a place called the Car Shop for $86 each.

Looking at pictures of everything online, I really don't think the crank switches will work with the A1 kit. The folks at A1 didn't know. I wanted to find out for sure... so I let you know after the parts arrive.

RestoRod, I think you're right. Since these regulators mount in the original location, I don't think there'll be room for the switch where the original shaft came through the panel.

Quick thought, anyone that is doing this conversion, it would be great if you would keep the camera handy and do a "how to" for the FAQ section.

One of the truck mags, don't remember the name, just installed electric windows in one of the 67-72 trucks from electric life. It was a current issue, well current up here anyway.

Re: Window Crank Switches

Another source for the window crank switches is www.hotronicsproducts.com. I believe they are the originators of this product. I also have concerns if they would fit the 67-71 door panels and also in particular the 72 style.

The electric life windows are literally a bolt in kit(forgetting about the wires and switches). My understanding is that they metric fasteners(included) to bolt through the existing holes in the door. I think they are quite simple to install.

Another source for switches, etc. is Streetrod Shop of Camus, WA. They were at the local swap meet with products on hand. Reach them at the following: www.streetrodshop.net

I am very interested in learning if the crank style switches fit the doors with powerwindows or not.

Keep us informed - Thanks - Bob
