Good news Bad news
Well my wife and I have been looking for a house. We found one and came to agreements with the owner. We fell in love with the old house when we first saw it. It has all the original woodwork in it and still only locks with a skeleton key (untill I move in and put in dead bolts). It is a 1900 built house sitting on .50 acres. I will have my own garage finally but I will need to raise the roof to put a taller door on so my truck will fit in. I am planning on building a 30 X 40 pole barn in the back sometime next year. Here are some pics of the house, let me know what you think. The bad news is I will have to go back to dial-up since the only broadband availible would be Directway satalite and I will not be able to aford it right away.

That house is excellent. I love old houses as well. The exterior woodwork on that house is screaming for a little color and contrast. ala Victorian, which it seems to have some influences from.
My house I just bought in August was built in 1930. Granite foundation, 7' ceilings and it was fully framed out with red oak, which is native here in CT. I think a bomb could drop in the front yard and I'd only get a couple broken windows.... Good luck on the new digs.....

We have a cabin in VA that is over 130 years old, its a log cabin, I love it.
Thats a nice looking house, I like older houses too but would have to update the paint scheme to suit my tastes. Is there wood flooring under that carpet? I know a lot of people put carpet over wood floorin because it was the thing to do back in the day lol.

Nice! I love old houses, makes you feel welcome and at home as soon as you walk in. They hold so much history in them, and have their own character. They were also built better than some new houses these days.......Very cool.

Nice looking place, just make sure you actually can (legally) put up a 30x40 pole barn, sometimes those zoning rules are a PITA

Beautiful place. I grew up out on Block Island and they are all old victorians in town, reminds me of home. Got to have a place with character.

Great find! I bet you both were like kids in a candy store when you walked inside for the first time. It's tough to find older homes that are not molested with character- depleting "updates"

OMG I Love that house. I don't think I'd change a thing, it has an old fashioned warmth about it. I can definately see sitting in a rocker on that porch sippin a cold one watchin the world go by.

Beautiful house.I tend to like old houses,cars,ect.
I would build that new garage right in front of the old one,and use it as a tool/storage room.I nearly live in mine though,I'm an addict...lol. Congrats on the new home.

oh man, talk about character. that home is just screamin it. I bought my first home in November. a 1916 Sears house. it is kind of fun to learn the history of these old houses. ie., mine was biult the same time as the one next door by the same family. son's family in one & the parents in the other. even had a enclosed porch between them.

Thanks for the complements everyone. We are looking forward to getting in it as soon as we can. We are to close the beginning of next week but wont get posession untill April 17th since the estate that it is in dosnt have any place to store all the stuff in the house till the auction on the 16th. We will be staying with the inlaws from the end of march till then.
