Choosing/WTB HEI Distributor
So I am going to swap out my points dizzy for a HEI. I have a 350 bored .30 over I think. (previous owner was shaddy and I don't believe much of what he said.) Anyway, I am just looking to improve cold starting, idle and the sluggish accel I get throughout the rpm range.
Any recommendations on what brand of HEI? (I have heard MSD is the best but they are a little $$$$) Anyone have one they want to sell? Thanks Ya'll Go Bucs

no not really considering the weak coils and stock modules that kill the motor around 4500 rpm. you will be better off with a performance oriented hei. i ran a proform for over 10k miles and had not one problem out of it. the hotter coil in the performance units will help with gas mileage

I Use A Stock G.m. Distributer, With A High Perfomance Coil & A Curve Kit. I've Been Running These Every Day For The Last 15 Years Or So Without Any Problems At All. John

I just bought a new HEI complete on e-bay for $75 "buy it now" (plus shipping) from "raceparts" or something like that. Automotive parts category. That's less than half what my local parts store wanted.

Bought mine from Jegs. $99 special and cheaper than the part store. If you have a basically stock motor, stock is fine.
