If it ain't one thing...
It's another. I thought I could see if I could get my motor to light up tonight, but when I went to put on the pulleys and fan and spacer, the bolt holes in my water pump are the wrong pattern. All my chevy stuff is the correct. My old WP is correct. I don't know if GM used other bolt patterns for other brands, or if the re-man'er screwed up or what. I guess I could drill and tap new holes, but it won't be 'til next week sometime before I'm around a drill press and taps.

I have been through the waterpump deal before
seems chevy did make 2 different hole spacings for the water pump. I picked one up at orielly's parts the other day and it had wrong spacing. took it back and they gave me one that was drilled for either or. They make 2 different ones . if it's new tsake it back and they will probably exchange for the other type

The short water pump has one bolt pattern, and the long water pump has another pattern. Yet, they didn't chainge anything when they went to reverse flow water pump.
Some are drilled for either or, which can make things even more confusing sometimes when you are trying to get the fan 1/2 into the shroud like it is supposed to be...or trying to keep the fan off the alt belt.,..or any other wild crap that happens up there. |

Yep, had the same thing happen to me. If it's new, exchange it. There are 2 bolt patterns on the short water pumps.

Screw it....go electric!!! I had the same problem. The fan wouldn't bolt up to the long water pump. Figured..."hey, why not go electric?"
