I am starting my blazer tank install, and if I had the strap bolts they ran away. Can I get the j bolts (or whatever they are called) in some hardware type store. It has been two years since I picked up my tank and parts so I don't remember the size or anything like that. I tried finding some at the "chain" parts stores on the way home and I get a more responsive look from my 16 year old (Oh, surprise!). Anyways, does someone have any idea what bolt size and length I will need.

I looked and there is no way to get a picture of what you need. Heck I can't even reach the top of the bolts. Sorry

Hay I will try and get some pics of the ones I have at home I don't get off work until 2330 (11:30pm) the only thing is mine is for a sub tank. Im not sure if they are the same...

Thanks guys. Any guess on what size bolt that is 3/8"? by what 5-6 inches long or ??? Would Home Depot or a hardware store carry something like them? I know what they are supposed to look like, I just was not sure of the size/length or where I might find them.

May be 7/16's bolt, about 6 inches long.

They're 3/8" bolts. I didn't use the "J" bolts that came with the kit I bought I'll see if I can scrounge'em up and take some pics. If you can use them let me know and they're yours for the ride...

Could you use j-bolts that are for batteries? Probably the wrong size, but it might work if you need'em quick.

You could go get a threaded rod from Homo Depot and bend it to fit.

Hi Bill,
Putter did not use the J bolts for his install either. He used 3/8" bolts that were probably 4" to 5" long. Also, we reshaped the straps to fit. I'm sure he'll reply to you as soon as he can with more details.

My son & I just went to the hardware store & got J bolts 3/8" by whatever(6" i think)
then I took a thread die & threaded the bolt the whole length. That way I had all the threads I needed and cut it off at the length we needed.The ones we got had the load rating on them so I was assured of not getting somthing too cheap. Hope this helps. Mike

I would be careful bending all-thread, it is very brittle. It tends to crack in the bends.

But I can weld a nut on the end too!

Now that I got an approximate size I can go do some bolt shopping and see what I can find that will fill the bill.

I ended up using 3/8" all thread and cut it to length. I did have to "bow" it some but it worked out great. The "J" bolts that came with my tank turned out to be to short to use unless I notched the bed support just over the tank which I didn't want to do. I was cautious about using all thread but two weeks and two full tanks and it's holding up so I guess it's going to be ok.
