'67 C15 with 305V6
I found one locally for sale. the connection I was talking to this morning say I could get it real cheap (about $100). he also said the interoir is in good shape but the body is bad. get this, he says it is all rusty. I cant imagine that! I mean it needs rockers, cab corners, floor pans & all!
I was thinking it would be a nice "anger inducer" for the wife. I might use some parts or what ever, I dont know yet. is the engine worth having? I have room under my bench for another motor or 2.

You can find $100 worth of parts on any truck. Go for it!

Some swear by the engine, most swear at it. It all depends on what you like. The 305 V6 is a stout engine with a high-nickel block. Tons of bottom end torque. The big drawback is a huge crank with lots of counterweight. Top end is about 3,600 rpm. http://www.6066gmctrucks.org/305V6.htm

I run a 305 V6 and like it. Add the Holley 500 carb and it goes pretty good.

I say buy it and put a "parts for sale" list together. I'd buy it if I had the cash.

I'd buy it and run the V-6, it's nice having something a little different.

Man, Oh Man I want one of those!! I have been trying to get a old guy here in town to sell me a '68 C-3500 with small 8' dump bed that has a 351 V6, 4 speed. He never uses it and keeps saying "I'm gonna letcha git it one o' these days" but he won't make me a price. To top if off, he insisted that I use it one time because I laid the sob story of how bad I needed a dump truck, trying to get him to sell it to me. That backfired on me because that only made me want it worse!! I've got a 305E in '65 3/4 T 4X4, and it does OK, but that 351 is a brute!

Problem with making it a driver for a kid is that most kids love to run high revs. While it will keep him from going fast, the engine won't hold up to sustained high rpm. I drove lots of trucks with the v6 in the late 60s to early 70s, and sent more than one rod out the side of a block.
If you can convince the kid not to wrap it out all the time, it will make a good engine. ![]()
