Found VIN Tag/Need Factory Rivots

I finally found my original VIN tag that goes on the drivers side of the cab when you open the door, I need some factory rivots......Anyone got them????

trimtags.com sells them. I called them to verify that they are actual rivets and not the glue in ones, and he assured me that they were.

Rivots

Thanks guys for the input, Ill get a set coming and get my tag back on the truck, just got my set of new American Racing wheels today, 200 S, should look sweet with new tires, Don

I think regular pop rivets are round-ended and factory rivets are kinda star shaped like this:

is that from a 67-72? doesn't look anything like what I've seen-not just the rivets the whole tag

I know the rivets I've delt with recently were round-maybe they were already replaced or something-I just reinstalled with pop rivets-but I have no concern for originality at all...

That tag is original, and it's not so much an originality thing as a legality thing. It is illegal to ever change your VIN tag. That is why they use special rivits. Obviously people do pull them and paint and put them back, or even do "other" things, and using the rosebud rivits helps to keep yourself out of trouble if the law comes a knockin.

The 70 up used 4 vin rivets to hold a larger style tag..if you were interested now you know..maybe your truck is 70 or newer and maybe thats why it didnt look the same.

come to think of it all these trucks I've ever owned were 70-72-I just never noticed the VIN plates on any older trucks I've seen...learn something new everyday
