Need Help Adjusting My Quadra jet

hello,

just wanted to propperly set my carburetor.. its a 71 cheyenne with a 350ci and 350TH.

would like to adjust the mixture screw's can i warm the truck up to operating temp and then adjust the screws in one at a time. turn it in untill it stumbles then then turn it out untill it reaches the highest rpm? then do the other side?

please help.

Heres what the Rochester manual says to do. With the engine idling at the proper speed, turn each mixture screw clockwise until the idle speed drops a noticeable amount. Now slowly turn the mixture screws counterclockwise until the max rpm is reached but no further. Work from one screw to the other and be sure that both screws are about the same number of turns out from the lightly bottomed position; this assures theres a mixture balance, after making this adjustment check your idle speed again to be sure it's correct.
I do all this with a vacuum gauge hooked up to the air cleaner vacuum port and be sure you get the most vacuum out of teh engine at idle so that you're adjusted correctly. This helps be sure you have a good adjustment.

i use the vacuum guage.just set the idle mixture screws for max vacuum @ the correct idle speed.this means you'll probably be turning the idle screw out a bit.
correct idle speed depends on tranny, engine & cam.
700 rpm is a nice place to start for a stock engine.

For an auto tranny I use about 750 or 800. Manuals are from 600 to 800.
