WTB: tilt auto column for a fair price

I would like to find a tilt auto column to add to my 67 chevy. Looking for one with a fair price, I don't mind painting it or making minor repairs. Shipping to 29730.

Is a van tilt OK that needs a little work?

Teeitup-
If greg isn't interested, I might be. What do you mean by the black housing and emblem? Do you have any pictures yet? Will it fit in a 1971 C-20?

Thanks-

Any truck tilt will be a direct replacement to your current non-tilt, regardless of your 67-72 year.

I'm not interested in having to modify a van column, especially after paying $200 for it. I realize the truck tilts are going for $200 - $300, and some still need work, but I don't think it's a "fair price", I think alot of people are gouging prices because they can. I haven't seen any other vehicles tilt column go for $200 - $600. Yes, I recently was contacted by someone wanting $600 for a rebuilt one. Most people might think I'm nuts, but I'm the one doing the buying here, and this is my opinion. Speaking only about truck auto tilts I think $100 - $200 is fair.....with the $200 column needing nothing. Therefore I may never get one.

I guess you may never get one then. In 1972 only 9% of the trucks made were optioned with tilt wheel. The demand simply our numbers the supply.

Well good luck, truck tilts are going from $225-up. As Don said there isn't a whole lot of originals out there to start with. As far as gouging, why should someone sell it cheaper if there is someone out there to buy it, IMO. Good luck in your search!

There are still quite a few out here. I have several, but most people having them for sale are not going to respond to a thread that starts out, "Wanted at a fair price" or "Wanted cheap". That's why you didn't get any prices at first.
We know that usually means you are NOT going to pay a "fair price". You want to "steal" it.
I normally wouldn't bother to respond at all, except the "gouging" comment got my attention. Why should you get one for a lot less than the rest of us?
Good luck.

Just back from the Portland swap meet. Central Calif dealer had 2 rebuilt true truck tilts at $225 each. They did not sell. Talked to a dealer from Spokane who sold a so/so van tilt for $115. Normally he gets $125. Saw several beat up van columns (missing levers, dented tin collar, etc.) starting at $60.

You make your choice and pay accordingly. Nicer is more $$$$$.

Good luck - Bob
