the 400 SBC is one the most coveted(sp?) chevy motors out there, it is very strong, and you can get roughly 450-500 Horse with no worries about cracking..Damn good motor

that goes with any engine from 350 on up.. as long as it is done right it is possible... but because 400s are somewhat rare (especially compared to 350s) that one small f*ck up and it is ALOT of money down the drain. at least wth a 350 parts are easy to find and cheap so its easy to use a autozone part until the real replacement arrives

cant say that i've ever seen one. but i'm with you, gotta do something different than everybody else. i was going to build my last C10 into a Pontiac SWB 2wd. wa going to run a Pontiac 400/400, a set of Rally II wheels, and even had a guy lined up to do the glasswork on the hood to install 70-74 Formula hood scoops on it.

A 409 is not a 400. They are two differnt motors, the 409's have W shave valve covers, the spark plug point down, etc. The 409 was used in 61, and the 348 was in 58.

W motors rule. I have always wanted one in a 62 or so Custom cab SWB. That would be sweet, IMO.

Heck yeah. My cousin is thinking of dropping one he has in his '64 Impala for the same reason, wanted to go a little out of the usual.
