disc brake conversion cost??
I just spent awhile reading through past posts on doing the 73+ drum to disc brake swap with the use of a donor truck. My question is, what should this cost from a salvage yard. I want everything to do the swap except the spindles. I also don't want to swap the crossmember. I was also thinking, what are the chances that the rotors will be good? How can you tell? (sorry, newbie here.) I have a 69 c10.
thanks, josh |

I did the disk swap from a 76. I just used the spindels and steering linkage. I bought new calipars and the rotors were good. You will need to change out your ball joint to the newer style. You will also need a porportioning valve you can use one off a 71-72 or the one off the newer model. If I had to do it over again I would do the whole cradle swap it would have been much easier. From a junk yard I would guess you would have to pay around $100 to $150 for the whole cradle.
