New heartbeat old truck?????

What does everyone think of a new 8.0 GM in our trucks? How do you think it will fit? If I'm crazy let me know, just sittin' here letting my mind exercise.

You looking at the 8.1L (496) or the 8.2L (502) or bigger?
They have almost the same outside size of the BBC and most external parts are interchangeable. You would have to convert your fuel pump to electric intank or external electric (new blocks don't have Boss for mech fuel pump). 8.1L is computer controlled and the 502 is old school mechanical.

Thats the 8.1L computer controlled and I think it is drive by wire (no cable from pedal to TBI) on the 2005 models. You would need to get the wire harness and computer from the same year truck and trans also. It should fit in the compartment might have an issue with the brake booster and the coil on plug as they stick up higher on the valve covers than a stock BBC. Like I said you will need a electric fuel pump, I think it uses about 40psi to the TBI instead of the 6 psi of the old carb engines.
