Question WTB Front Leaf Spring Shackles

Anybody know who makes a good replacement front spring shackle for a 71/72 4x4 frame? I need the bushings that go into the frame and the inner sleeve also. Would like to go with polyurethane?

Any ideas on a good aftermarket company thats not too expensive ?

Thanks,
72longbed

Thumbs up

nu2-72,

sounds good. Looking forward to pics. Do you know if the factory frame bushing can be replaced with Polyurethane and still use the factory shackle side plates?

Thanks,
72longbed

I may have mispoken here. You are talking about the rear of the front springs?
I have the front spring mounts. The part that the core support sits on.
I do know that you can buy the bushings for the spring eyes, and the brackets through the frame at the rear of the front springs.
Tim Christian was going to start stocking them. Check with him.

The ord ones require you to drill the factory shackle out 1/2" and use a 1/2" bolt at the frame. originals are 7/16".

Question

Jim,
I got the new springs from Tuff Country, they came with Polyurethane bushings in the spring eyes. I need to replace the rear shackle of the front spring. I never had the factory shackle parts that should have come with the frame, so I need to either find a company that sells a Polyurethane 'Factory Style' frame bushing and side plates or, spend the Big Bucks and buy the ORD expensive stuff? $100.00 seems to be a lot of money for a pair of shackles!

Isn't there another choice out there? I would think that these shackles are available from another aftermarket company?

If anybody can offer some help, please do.

Thanks,
72longbed

I do not see the problem but maybe I do not understand it.
Chevy Duty offers the shackle kit for 70-72 1/2 and 3/4 4x4's for $24.95 ea. #74-036
As I said, Tim was carrying the poly bushings and should have the shackle kits as well. They are everywhere.
Teeitup just bought like 35 trucks. He should have something also. But I know he is busy moving alot of them. Try emailing or PM him direct. He is very good about responding.

Thumbs up Measurements

Blazerman,
I checked the width of the frame bushings today, the ones you have will work as long as they are the correct internal diameter when mounted on the steel sleeves. If you would verify that, I'll purchase the Black bushings, inner sleeves, side plates and upper and lower bolts for the latest price that we agreed on.

Still need a mailing address to send you the money?

Thanks,
72longbed
