Don't buy from this eBay prick.....

(sorry, this is kinda long)

abesrecycledautoparts

I bought a rebuilt 500 CFM Carter carb from this guy last week and installed it on my '56 wagon this past weekend. The engine fired right up and all was good. I then went to tune it up and pulled the vacuum advance line off the carb. I've always noticed a decrease in RPM when the vacuum line is disconnected on my Edelbrock carbs. Well, there was no change in RPM no vacuum was felt (with my finger) on that port (only has one distributor vacuum port). I am not a carb expert by any means so I thought maybe it wasn’t functioning correctly. I then pulled the plug off the main vacuum port and the RPMs increased dramatically. This seemed odd to me. I figured such a large “vacuum leak” would have the opposite results. Again, I am not a carb expert by any means so I thought maybe it wasn’t functioning correctly. So I e-mailed the guy and told him I thought something might be wrong with it by explaining my observations and asked for suggestions. His reply:

Jason;
#1 All of our carbs are tested on running engines..#2. The distributor vacuum port on any carburetor is a timed throttle port and does not provide vacuum until the throttle opens the internal port at a certain RPM...#3.. All carburetors speed up when you pull off the direct vacuum port plugs. It produces a lean mixture and speeds up RPMS..

Get someone to work on that curburetor that knows what they are doing before you hurt youself, burn down you car ,garage, neighborhood or runover yourself

regards
Chuck

My reply:

Actually, Edelbrock carbs have both a timed vacuum port as well as a full-time vacuum port, but I'm sure you knew that because you are obviously a genius. I just assumed that unplugging a vacuum port would create a “vacuum leak” thus hurting the engine performance (resulting in decreased RPM). I stand corrected.

Do you treat all your customers with the same amount of respect? That’s pretty bold of you to assume I’m a complete idiot having never met me or knowing nothing about me. I’m not your typical punk ass kid throwing a new carburetor on a 350 small block in a ’74 Nova trying to make it go faster.

I’ll be sure not to recommend you to anyone.

Have a nice day.

Jason

His reply:

Jason;

Your false accusation of "something isn't right with this one."...Makes us mad right off the start. Confucius said "I used to think you were an idiot until you opened your mouth and spoke and removed all doubt." Your email revealed your ignorance on the subject..You may not be a typical punk kid but you are in the same catagory..You are a wannabe mechanic that thinks you know more than you do. Jesus said "out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks". You are dumb inside and it came out in your stupid email...We can't keep up with the demand for our good carburetors from good buyers..We don't need trouble from wannabes like you.
regards
Chuck

This guy is a pompous jackass! Most of his feeback is positive but the negative and neutral ones show that his is indeed arrogant.

I just spent some time reading through his "feedback" ...He sure is a smarta$$...Nothing is ever his fault and everyone who buys things from him and has a problem is due to their own personal incompetence...

What a jerk...Thanks for the warning...I always try to read through a sellers feedback info, cause sometimes it can tell a very interesting story..

You can't quote Jesus and call somebody stupid in the next sentence. That's not right.

Apparently you can if you first "quote" Confucius.

Even the people that left POSITIVE feedback got flamed. He has an answer for everything. Dirt-bag! I'd love to run into him in a parking lot somewhere.

I just left feedback for this auction. Seeing how the carb does function properly, I couldn't justify leaving negative feedback. So I left this comment:

Quote:
"Item as described and shipped promptly. However, this is a very arrogant seller."
Now I'm just waiting for his kind words when he leaves feedback for me

Looks like he left you a negative. You better do a follow up feedback to explain. I would have not left him a feedback until he did or have waited on the 90th day so he wouldn't get a chance to reply.

No matter what I would have done, he would have been a asshole about it. I really don't care. All of my other feedback is positive whereas he has some negatives and even some "negative" positives.

Oh, I did end up sending him one final e-mail, but I wouldn't consider it "nasty" or "foul".......

Quote:
Wow, I've never encountered such a pompous jackass. I admitted I was wrong with my diagnosis of the carb. I wasn't trying to start any "trouble" with you. All you had to do was explain why my concerns with the carb were unfounded. I guess you just take pleasure in belittling others.

(No need to reply)
I really wanted to be foul and nasty, but didn't want to get negative feedback...... oh...... wait..... I did anyway

Damn, if you're a wannabe mechanic with all your toys and custom work, what does that make me? Maybe I should sell the '68 and buy a radio flyer. He is right on the "will not deal with again" though.. he won't deal with you or anyone else on this board

Apparently rebuilding old carbs qualifies one as a "mechanic". Hmmm... I bet I could lower a radio flyer.... maybe air bags?....

Unhappy TO Late!!

I found this thread to late, I bought a 600 Carter for my cousin's convertable project we are working on. It looked nice in the pics but when it got here it was spray painted 2 different colors and the paint gummed up the linkages. We pulled the top off to find rust in the metering seats and the accel pump looks to be about 5 years old. The thing won't start without pouring gas into it. (Choke not working at all) I left a Positive feedback after I got the carb and expected the same.... here is the reply e-mail sent to me:

From: "chuck and jane" <chuckandjane3@earthlink.net>
To: americanrider@yahoo.com
Subject:Re: Question for item #7968512317 - Edelbrock = AFB 600 rebuilt carburetor with ele choke

We don't give feedback for at least 60 days. We wait to see if the buyers are satisfied..I they bug us we give negative feedback or none at all.
regards Chuck

If figure it's easier to fix this myself than to deal with this butt-head and the shipping cost. Another lesson in life, this set me back $170 plus the re-build kit I'm going to have to buy.

Thanks for the heads-up on this guy.

hmmm, I'm wondering if the power of 67-72chevytrucks.com can do anything to ruin this toad of a wannabe ebayer? We should launch a campaign.

We guarantee this carb to work or we will repair it for free. No refunds.. Buyer pays all shipping costs.. ;;If you don't intend to pay immediately after the sale ends do not bid..We do not tell the reserve price while the auction is going on....Thanks

why pay $30 -$50 for a junky, dirty, nasty old used carburetor plus another $30 - $50 for a kit when you can buy this guaranteed rebuilt carb for a little more????.. ( buyer responsible to verify this part fits his/her application)...

Nasty foul mouthed customer. will not deal with again. wannabe mechanic

what a jerk jack@$$ looser, he's the best carb man in the world. I will never buy any thing from him!!!!

Hmmm.... I need to find someone that knows how to work on carburetors. I'd like to see the inside of the one I bought but I don't know how to pull the top off since I'm only a wanna be mechanic.

Seriously, I better pull the top off mine and see how it looks inside. Of course if it was dirty inside, he'd say it was not installed properly.
