Question Inner grille restoration question (1970)

My inner grille is in very good condition, structurally.

How is the coloring supposed to be on a 1970?

The egg crate part of the grille has silver on the front edges.

My question is how to properly repaint so it will appear as new.

Should I use paint for plastic and flat black or semi gloss?

Thanks for replies.

Mine is a 69 so I'm not a 100% on the 70. As far as the colors go on the insert all of the factory ones & repops (I've seen) are flat black and flat gray. The egg carton part is flat gray, and the "trim" long flat narrow part that is closest to the aluminum is flat black. Unless your truck is a concours (sp?) restoration you could prolly go with a semi-gloss in both colors also, however I have never seen oem ones in gloss black or gloss gray, hope this helps, Doug

Sorry no reply. I have an inner grill to do. Have my ideas but they are untried. Did not want to send you barking up the wrong tree. My inner is cracked. Figured on reparing the cracks with epoxy putty while grill is installed on truck. Figure that is my best chance to not have it crack again. Paint color I am thinkin on going with is argent. Dunno what I am going to use for primer yet.

69 short fleet, thanks for the picture, i have been trying to figure out if the entire egg crate part was silver or just the front edges. as far as i can tell the entire egg crate part is silver in your picture.
