i have a th400 i want to replace my 350 with, but i'll need a different, shorter driveshaft. how much do they cost because this is a swap i would really like to make. it's a longbed with a split driveshaft now.

the 2 pcs shaft in your 77 should have a slipyolk in the middle, just after the carrier bearing. I would swap the trans yolk & set it up......if you have 3/4" minimum in the center for "slipslide" , with the wheels on the ground, you should be ok. Just keep in mind that you need tween 3/4-1" on the slip yolk before it bottoms. if you need , you can cut & balance a shaft fairly cheap ($75-125 in my area).....the 400 t is worth the extra hassles, it one d@mn good trans. best of luck,

i forgot to say i want to take the th400 from my 77 longbed and put it into my 72 longbed. both have 350ci engines and my 72 has the th350 right now. i was wondering about a driveshaft though because i don't think the 77's would fit the 72.

Fort Worth Gear and Axle.
I love those guys. They built me a sweet 1 piece drive shaft with a new yoke and u-joints for my 72 lwb.

Is the 72 a 1/2, or 3/4 ton?
