Driveline carrier bearing
I remember people talking about carrier bearings but I can't seem to find the search function.
I keep having to replace mine. I have a feeling it's an installation issue. Is there a trick to getting them in there just right so they don't go bad in a couple months?

Take it to a machine shop and have it pressed on by them. Also you might make sure your driveline is balanced as an unbalanced driveline will tear a bearing up pretty fast. Prices will vary from place to place but here I got the bearing pressed on for $10.00 and the driveline balanced for $30.00. Probably higher now. I havent had a problem with it sense and its been probably over 12 years now. At one point I was going through a bearing every couple of years.

The other possibility is the rear is not centered. That was what caused mine to go out the first time (PO put front coils on the back, raised it a good 3"). When I put the rear back together I put in a billet one from DLS.

Thanks for the advice. A guy at the parts store suggested that it could also be the tailshaft bushing in the tranny. I'm told they rarely wear out, but I did have one go bad on me in a previous Chevy vehicle.
