About a year ago someone posted up a conversion to rid the truck of the poa valve and all the little incedentals. Included a swap to a different evaporator and use an orifice tube. Does anyone have this info?

Good article and tech,(saved it and printed) but there was a different one with the use of a later model evap -----------oldsmobile if I remember right. What I'm doing is trying to get together all the parts I need to put a 400sb in my GMC with the serpentine setup. At the same time, with everything out of the engine bay I thought I would update the AC.

I am interested in this also. I have an uninstalled poa elimenator kit but am interested in a differant set-up. I saw a variable orifice on a/csource.com. http://www.acsource.com/index.asp?Pa...S&Category=273 Looks like a good idea. If I can find a newer gm evap that will fit in out "suitcase" I'd like to give it a try.

Exactly what the thread was about-- an oldsmobile core in the truck 'suitcase' the top tube curled off to the side where you could put the later model dryer.

Not sure how close demensionally the newer chevy truck evap. cores are but they look real close in size,at least the housing does anyway.
The newer Chevy trucks(73 and up) use an accumulator and a FOT.
FOT on the inlet(bottom tube) side and the accumulator on the top tube.

You can purchase a direct fit new style evap from Old Air. I have done two swaps. Very helpful with the parts you need.

I took a 78 Blazer and got Evap. demensions of 10"x8"3/4X2"3/4.But for some reason I can't find any demensions for a 69-72 Blazer evap. core.
I think 73-80 used the same evap. core.

I'd say they are real close but if anyone has a 69-72 evap. core laying around that they could measure for us that would be great!
