We are officially Utahns now. Packed up, did the whole U-Haul thing, sold a home, bought a home, and are now settling down here... Don't miss SoCal at all (note to self, change profile...)

Even though the weather has been COLD, we couldn't be happier. Between the trips to Lowes, Sears, and furniture stores, I haven't had a minute to spare!

For anyone curious, I had to do some research, and thought this might help someone- you can get your K5 on a UHaul auto transport IF-

1. It is a late model UHaul transport (all galvanized, not orange paint)- the late model transports are about 5" wider then the older ones.

2. You have =<31x10.5 and =<8" wide rims (got some for the trip)

The Blazer fit with about 0.5" clearance total on the transport, and made it up 700 miles without any issues.

You guys would be impressed. I picked up a riding mower at Sears- they put the mower/pallet right in the bed of the K5 with a fork. Not the impressive part- I got the mower out of my K5 (9" lift and 38's) singlehandedly. Some inginuity and understanding of physics can go a long way!

Finally, I picked up a local truck trader, and 69-72 K5s and 4x4s are considerably cheaper then I have seen elsewhere. I am talking $3-5k for a decent original truck. There were about 10 K10s and a few K5s at very reasonable prices.

K5 is having issues... Runs terribly rich when cold, and smells like gas when it's sitting in the garage. Can't find a single leak or anything. Have to localize it.

Remember, you are 4000ft higher elevation where you are now then where you were in socal. Time to get smaller jets.

I was amazed at the number of early Chevy 4x4 trucks in Utha. My wife and I have made 3 trips to Utha in the last 4 years. Would love to live there. But both of us are established in our careers here in N.C. We visited the small town of Kanab, I counted no less than 12, 67/72 Chevy 4x4's trucks there. I'm sure your family will love it there. You will have to visit Zion NP, Briyce Canyon NP, Arches NP, Cayonlands NP, Natural Bridges Nat'l Monument. Lake Powell, I could go on and on. I sure you get the ideal why my wife and I love Utha. I got my 72 from the south part of Utah......Nice countryside and an even nicer 72......only one rust spot on drivers side and thats it! Finally got to see some rocker boxes in action! Congrats on the move!

Glad to hear you made it out before the predicted earthquake, June 21. the person predicting it is the one that predicted the Loma Preata (spelling?) in 89. Can't remember his name.
