Nice progress! Are you going to paint it yourself?

Are you using a stock ecm to control the votec, switching to carb or what?

paintin it myself

stock ecm, using stock TBI with the vortec heads.....(ya know the $300 GM intake ) , also using a melonized distributor gear.....i hope (and pray) i can find someone to burn me a chip that will work.....i'm also using the stock roller cam...its something like .420/.440 ....which should be right on for a truck..

i was going with some 18's or 20's, but i saw a truck just like mine at a car show a few weeks ago, and it had 285/70-15's on the back and 235/75-15's on the front with polished 15 X 8 rims.....MAN that looked cooooolll.. , i love the "meaty" look....just looks "muscle-ie"

As far as ECM programming, do some searching. There are lots of ways to skin that cat. Here's one place to start:
http://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/show...hreadid=104792

I would recommend Megasquirt of course, for the ultimate in flexibility and tunability.

Making some good progress. Should be a sweet setup when your done. Good engine choice and those rims should be pretty tight too!!

for the tune you could also probably go with Ed Wright performance. They did my LT1 PCM and it came out nice. www.fastchip.com

Great progress by the way!

Good choice. I love black trucks (when they are clean). Mine is black and I want to get new paint on it some day. PPG? Is this the best paint to get? When you get the black you want, let me know what it is called. I might want to use the same color. It is hard to believe there are so many blacks out there. I found out- "black is not black"! I have been told so many times that "black is black". Not true.

yeah, thats what i've found out too....black is not black.....a local guy here uses cheap (napa) crossfire martin sr. paint and clear....it just seems like his paint jobs dont look quite as deep as the ppg and dupont paint jobs i've seen

Your progress looks good. That black paint job you shot on that truck looks real good from the pic... looks real straight. Black must be the hardest color to paint since the bodywork must be perfectly straight. I gotta question: Do you block sand or ??? around the door gaps? For instance, the edges around the gap between the door and the front fender on these trucks just slightly curves in (towards the gap). I've heard of some using a hammmer and dolly to eliminate that slight curve.

BTW, nice cabinets.

Hey, those are great progress pics! It's getting me to feel a little better about my truck. While it's really clean, I do have a few spots needing attention underneath. I'll get around to fixing them yet. These shots of other guys' work helps to keep me motivated!

I want to repaint the front suspension, rear 3' of the frame, receiver hitch, and a few spots like on the bed support braces, etc. fortunately, the floor is spotless. It will be so much easier to do that work once I have a garage again. That's what I've missed having since my last two houses had them. This house only had a carport- OK, but not a garage.

Thanks again for the morale boost!
