hotrodmtodd Broken Down In VA
We will call this story: Good Luck Vs. Bad Luck. Through the miracles of technology, I am writing this safe and sound from my fathers home in Williamsburg VA. Good luck: My 11 year old son John and I are on a road trip to pickup my Dads tow dolly here and then go pickup the '68 Burb I bought in Glen Burnie, MD. Got here no problem, saw Dad off to Atlanta for 2 weeks. Spent all day yesterday out on the Atlantic open kayaking. Bad Luck: Got HARSH sunburn on feet (and everywhere else too), on way back to W-burg, my less than 2 year old, $332 Carter fuel pump went south on the S-10. Good luck: UNDER WARRANTY. Broke 3/4 mile from Dads house. Bad Luck: First 1/2 mile of pushing went well until that little hill. We passed 2 able bodied guys in their yards who were content watching me and the 11 year old push the 2-ton truck uphill. When we stopped, the one came over and said, "Duh, do you need help?" I fought off the urge to say, "yeah, 50 feet ago when I passed your house". Walked the rest of the way to Dads. Good Luck: Door was open at Dads, neighbor with BIG son was home and went back with us to help push. Got it to Dads driveway. Keys were in mini-van. Drove to Advance, new pump will be here in morning. Dads mechanic squeezed us in (I did it the first 2 times, WITHOUT the sunburn). AAA came within the hour. Bad Luck: Burb guy will not be home tomorrow so we will have to wait until FRI to pick it up now. ALL in ALL: I think Good Luck won. We could have been ALOT worse places with ALOT less help (except those 2 guys!) We will take 2 steps forward and 1 step back ANYDAY! I guess that's why they call it counting your blessings. Hopefully, the rest of the trip will be a breeze. (towing the S-10 with the Burb, by the way) Keep me and Johnny in your thoughts and prayers. Take care, Hot Rod (Mike)

I Don't Have 90 Days
My post count is good, but I don't have 90 days yet or I would have been a charter member for sure. I will check before I leave FRI to see if anyone is on my route that's willing to help if needed. Thanks for thinking of us, Mike

Highway To Help (good name for the list, maybe?)
Shorty: That will get me from Billsburg to I-95, thank you.
Chuck: You have Shorty to Tim covered, thanks. Tim: Sounds like you have Eastern MD, can you make the MVA work faster? Hehe! Anybody for I-68 to Morgantown? AAA plus will have it from there! All kidding aside, I TRULY appreciate all the support guys. I can't wait to get the '68 Burb out in front of the S-10 on the dolly for some REAL cruisin'! Take care, MT

Back In Business
Thanks to Merrimac Trail Advance and James-York Amoco, Johnny and I are back in business. We will be taking the extra day to get a little fishin' in. We are hoping for smooth sailing from here on out. Thanks everyone for all the peace of mind that comes with the offers for help along the way. As much as I would like to meet you ALL, I hope we don't have to call on any of you for aid, as we've had our share of vehicular excitement already! We will keep you updated, and hopefully our next message will be from PA! Take care all, Mike

More COOL Members
Lou: You LITERALLY changed my life with those parts. I am going to reproduce that bracket so I can share them with the rest of our friends who need them. I am going to have to change back over to manifolds though, headers just won't cut it with the placement of the bellcrank. Thanks again, Mike
Randy: Thanks for the info in the PM. MT

Just Off Gov. Ritchie
Art,
I got it from that Drop&Drag website that Joe (Bagged91) posted on here. I think you posted on there about it if I remember right. Green with pleated interior. It's rough around the edges, but a pretty solid start. I will be without the internet from here on, so I will be wingin' it. Thank you for the offer. If you want to give your info to mhc, she will be my closest contact for this trip. Take care, Mike

Burbless in Burgettstown
Well we made it home at 1 AM last night but sorry to say it was without the Burb. One of the front brake lines was mush, and the E-brake was missing entirely, so I opted to drop back and punt. We will be working feverishly to get one of our bigger trucks roadworthy to try and make another rescue attempt in the coming days. Didn't want to sacrifice another $1800 tranny in the S-10. Johnny got to see his mother before she shipped back overseas this morning so it worked out OK. Thanks again everyone for all the help, Mike

Glad you made is safe and sound. I'd be a little leary of towing a Suburban with an S10.
