Fun filled week! All about k5's UPDATE W/Pics
Well I'm on vacation this week and have a list of things to keep me busy:
77 blazer 1) Installed new headers las Saturday. Need to have a shop extend exhaust to reach them. 2) Need to fix up vacuum hoses for SMOG INSPECTION (california style! 69 blazer 1) Ordered new gas tank kit(where is it....?) Need to install. Should be "fun" 2) Ordered new GM Grill. Gets here soon....along with my NOS front bumber(already installe), should look killer. 3) Need to remove PO rear custom bumper. It is WELDED to frame. Then need to install a replacement fleet chrome bumper. 4) Body work: Bought some new toys for this: - Air compressor - DA sander(air) - cutoff wheel(air) - for removal of current rear bumper - paint gun- need to get inline filter(moisture) 5) Goal is to complete inside of truck first...sand..primer...paint. Not sure if this is possible since I don't know how to paint yet! 6) Install new door window rubber and guides. Here is what I've accomplished this week....will be spraying base and clear tomorrow morning!

Sounds like fun. I'd like to have that much time to work on my trucks in a row.

Thanks! So here is what I've completed...
1) Got exhaust extended on 77 to "comply" with CA laws. I had to change my headers to "approved" ones so that I could smog. Problem: The STUPID Hedman headers, driverside, has a warped surface on the side that bolts to engine so I am getting a mean leak....argghh. I am about to call Summit and fix that. 2) Went to auto paint shop and picked up the goods to prime and paint my interior. Not to pricey. The guy was patient with me . I got the original paint for my k5, red(514). Kinda looks orange and confused me when my truck looks orange, but the glove sticker says red. I am good now. 3) Used my DA sander on the air compressor. Ok, where the hell have I been. Air rules . I can't believe how easy it was to sand down the doors and interior. The compressor I bought is a Sears professional, only 25 gallon, but its oil and belt driven two cycle so it had NO problems keeping up with whatever I threw at it. NICE. 4) Where is my gas tank kit from GMC Paul...... 5) I worked all day today sanding, putty(small holes, scratches and dings) on the doors, rockers, dash. Trying to do a good job, but I'm not an experienced body guy. I figure if I spread, sand, spread ,sand, spread ,sand I'll fill the dings and stuff the right way. Anyways, started out BAD when I forgot to mix the hardener with the metal prep stuff.....yikes. What a pain. Bunch of soft putty stuck on my door....but not quit drying.....fixed now. 6) tomorrow, sand the bed, floors and tailgate. The tailgate looks like its from 1969! All kinds of stuff stuck to it and scratches. That should take a nice bit of my day tomorrow. 7) Figure out a way to paint in my garage. I figure i will hand plastic from the top and turn off the pilot from my water heater! I'll post pictures of the paint job ..bad or good.
