All these trucks are/were board members trucks;
This one used to belong to Crews

I can't remember this guys name...I think it's up for grabs right now;

Mr Alaska-something or another ( I really suck with names);

I still have your pics...still need to put them on my site...

I have no pics, but I saw one on my way back from the (Texas) Panhandle a couple of weeks ago, in Santo, TX. The owner was outside so I stopped and chatted with him about it for awhile. It was a red crew cab dually made from a burb (three doors), but with a pickup's roof (lower). He used 88-98 dually fenders. It looked really sharp. In fact, I think it may be the red one I've seen in pics around the board, but I'd have to see the pic again to be sure.

Then he showed me the LIFTED 4wd fleetside he was still working on in the shop. Woah! It was pretty slick. He used a burb for this one, too, but used the higher roof. I remember looking up and seeing a roof-mounted rear AC in there. I forgot the amount of lift on it but the rocker panel was above my belt (I'm 6'3"). I tried to turn him on to this page but he doesn't have internet.

Does anyone have a pic of that lowered red crew cab 72-ish dually with a custom grille?

A guy down the street from my new house is having one built, with a Burb 3rd door and a fourth one fabbed...he says it should be done sometime near the end of this year...

I'll get pics when I come back up for winter break.

Coulda been e-bay, coulda been his site.
Funny thing is, any one who has done any reasearch on the long 4 door ones always come up with forestry division, while the blue alaska truck up there is said to have been an alaska pipeline truck.
No telling who did what or anything. I have not done much research on them at all, and I just repeat what the owners have found.

I wonder if the company that did those conversions is still in business. Is there any paperwork or emblems with those crews that would give us a hint? They might have any records of how many were done or perhaps plans as to how they were done.

The white one and Mr. Alaska's are definately the best looking..

No offense, but I really don't like the other ones.. the triangular chunk of steel between windows is really ugly.

I accidently insulted a member on here about a year ago by calling these FUGLY.
They are growing on me though.
Another company that did conversions got G.M. and is still in bussness today, as Crown and also I thinik it's called asi. Crown did conversions on the 60 - 66 trucks, and I know asi did Buick custom (dealer) work, and through the 80's they did lots of convertables, like the Camaro and Caviler. These are actually NOT assembly line cars, they all started just like any other hard roofed car.
